Lee’s Trio will be playing his signature blend of Middle Eastern/North African Music and Jazz live at Red Poppy MAPP is alongside other groups sharing the bill. The trio will feature Robb Fischer on bass and Vincent De Jesus on drums. Launched in 2003, the Mission Arts & Performance Project (MAPP) is a homegrown bi-monthly, multidisciplinary, intercultural happening that takes place in the Mission District of San Francisco. On the first Saturday of every even month of the year, the MAPP transforms ordinary spaces, such as private garages, gardens, living rooms, studios, street corners, and small businesses into pop-up performance and exhibition sites for a day/night of intimate-scale artistic and cultural exchange among a kaleidoscope of individuals and communities.

Lee will be playing straight ahead jazz and original music with vocal and piano virtuoso Amanda Addleman. They will be at Don Antonio’s in Larkspur, a fantastic Italian restaurant that boasts live music monthly. Lee will be playing Oud with master Arabic percussionist Loay Darboar for a private event at Square Inc. in San Francisco. They will be playing Arabic music classics ranging from Umm Kulthum, to Muwashahat and Qudud Halabiyya.

Lee will be playing with his trio at the Monday night events hosted by the Oakland Freedom Jazz Society at the Pro Arts Gallery and Commons in Oakland, CA. Lee will be leaning into his “free jazz” and “new music” dispositions on this date, featuring original compositions, improvisations, and everything in between. Concert will have a suggested donation between $7-$15, and Lee’s group will be sharing the bill with Jordan Glenn and Jakob Pek. Lee will be playing classical and folkloric music from Sudan with powerhouse vocalist Salma Al Assal, and virtuoso oudist Khalid A lAwad at Yuerba Buena Gardens Festival. Lee will be playing in a very important concert called “Music of the Banned - Her Banned Voice” featuring female vocalists from the countries that were on the 45th’s travel ban. Lee is very vocal about his support of immigrant communities, immigrant rights, and the rights of women, so this concert fits perfectly within his mission for music. He will be playing guitar with The Sudan Music Ensemble; the Bay Area’s premiere (maybe only) Sudanese ensemble, which features powerful vocals from Salma El Assal, and virtuosic oud playing from Khalid ElAwad.
